The Book of Haggai

Haggai is a short, urgent word to a people who came home from exile, started well, and then stopped. The temple lay in ruins while everyone tended their own paneled houses, and prosperity slipped through their fingers like coins through a bag with holes. In just four dated messages over a few months, the prophet calls them to consider their ways, to build the house, and to take heart, promising, “I am with you.” Haggai lifts weary eyes from a small and disappointing building toward a far greater glory and a lasting peace—a hope that finds its fullness in Jesus, the true temple where God dwells with us.
