The Book of Micah
Micah preaches to a society where the powerful devise evil on their beds, seize fields, judge for bribes, and still presume that God is on their side. Against this corruption he thunders judgment on Samaria and Jerusalem—yet again and again the storm breaks into sunlight: nations streaming to God's mountain, a remnant gathered like a flock, and a ruler coming from little Bethlehem whose goings out are from of old. Micah distills true religion into one famous line—to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God—and ends in wonder at a God who pardons iniquity, treads our sins underfoot, and casts them into the depths of the sea. The book points us straight to Christ, the Bethlehem-born Shepherd who is our peace.
