The Book of Jonah
Jonah is the story of a prophet who runs from God and a God who will not stop pursuing—Jonah, Nineveh, and even us. Through a storm, a great fish, a preached word, and a withered plant, the book asks whether we will rejoice that God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in loving kindness, even toward people we would rather see judged. It points us to a greater Prophet who would spend three days in the heart of the earth and rise to bring salvation to the nations.
