The Book of Ezra

Ezra is the story of homecoming and restoration—a remnant carried back from Babylon to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and to rebuild their lives around the word of God. Through Cyrus's decree, a foundation laid in tears and shouting, opposition that stalls the work, prophets who reignite it, and a scribe who sets his heart to seek and teach the Law, the book traces how God's hand graciously rests on his people to restore true worship. It quietly points us forward to a greater return from exile and a greater temple, accomplished in Christ, in whom God comes to dwell with his people forever.
